I often find myself reading one book and then switch in the middle of book #1 to reading book #2 to sometimes jumping to book #3. It’s never really due to the story or writing. Often I’m just like “Squirrel!” and something else just exciting and enticing pulls me away.
Often times I do end up finishing books I have started . I just somehow circle back to them. It’s not exactly the best habit (and Goodreads is often confused by my habit), but it happens.
So here is currently on my reading lists:
Queens of Fennbirn by Kendare Blake: I’ve been a Three Dark Crowns series fan since the beginning. The world building is amazing and the politics keep you on your toes. Oh, and sisters fighting each other to the death for a crown? What could be better? The two short stories/novellas in Queens of Fennbirn really gives Arsinoe, Mirabella, and Katherine a really nice base in The Young Queens while we finally get to learn of the story of the mad queen, Elsabet in The Oracle Queen.
The Cruel Prince by Holly Black: I have never read Holly Black’s work before (shocking I know), but I was at Avid Bookstore in Athens and purchased it with some birthday certificates. The worldbuilding was so immersive and my favorite part was that it takes place in the present day even though the Farieland seems to be of yesterday. Jude’s questionable choices makes my Slytherin heart excited as it makes the story complex. I look forward to reading the next in the series.
A Touch of Gold by Annie Sullivan: Fairytale retellings are my absolute favorite! So picking up a retelling of the story of King Midas was a no brainer for me. The story is enjoyable and the hints of other mythologies give this story a nice roundness.
Two Dark Reigns by Kendare Blake: I just finished reading QoF and started TDR. Let’s see how our favorite sisters start making some trouble.
The Lost Sisters (The Folk of the Air #1.5) by Holly Black: I just finished The Cruel Prince and thoroughly enjoyed Jude’s character. Taryn’s POV should be a treat to read. This ebook will be published on Oct. 2.
Zodiac Starforce, Volume 2: Cries of the Fire Prince by by Kevin Panetta, Paulina Ganucheau (Illustrator), and Sarah Stern (Illustrator): Currently available, I read Vol. 1 when it came out last year. It’s a cute and sweet magical girl story with awesome pops of color.
Monstress, Volume 3 by by Marjorie Liu, Sana Takeda (Artist): Currently available, I read Vol. 1 and 2 the last few years. It has a great dark story in a matriarchal fantasy world and art decor details.
From Unseen Fire by Cass Morris: I stumbled upon this fantasy bok as I walked through my B&N and was struck by the cover. The summary and the cover totally give off ancient Greece/Rome vibes which makes my history-loving heart flutter. It is currently available.
